IWAC – Report on the summoning and filing of a court case against Zia Nabavi, Hasti Amiri and Fereshteh Tousi for protesting against the serial poisoning of Iranian school students. Three students in Iran, who protested against the poisoning of students in schools and the violent treatment of university students by security guards, following false accusations and framing by the Basij and security guards of Allameh Tabatabai University, were summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office.
As reported on Instagram by “United Students,” these three students who protested the situation in Iran are Zia Nabavi, Hasti Amiri. On Monday, April 24, they were summoned to the Prosecutor’s Office and arraigned for “propaganda against the regime.” They were granted bail. The report highlights that Allameh Tabatabai University’s security guards, in collaboration with the university’s Basij, have opened a new chapter of repression by falsely accusing and framing students at the university. At a demonstration held on March 6 last year at Allameh Tabatabai University, security officers beat students, resulting in over 30 students being barred from entering the university and facing new disciplinary charges.
Simultaneously, Allameh Tabatabai University’s Basij had begun falsely accusing and framing the same three students by releasing a statement in which their names was mentioned. This statement had laid the groundwork for future disciplinary action against these students. While the serial poisoning of students in schools in Iran has been ongoing for months, in front of some schools, groups of parents have taken turns to guard and protect their children. While so far, there have been no reports of arresting those who plan and conduct these poisonings, the students protesting this situation seem to be punished instead.
On Monday evening, Zia Nabavi shared a message on his Instagram story about this: “Today, we were summoned to the Second Branch of Evin’s Prosecution Office, and were arraigned for the excuse of the demonstration held on March 6 against the serial poisoning of students in school…We pleaded not guilty and emphasized that if anyone should file a complaint, it has to be us and against the unprecedented violence used by the university’s security guards against the students. While the ongoing serial poisoning of students in Iran’s schools and the real perpetrators and commanders remain unaccountable and unpunished, the students protesting this crime are getting ready for defend themselves at the court. If this heinous crime was not so utterly sad and painful, one could laugh out loud at the irony of the situation…”.
